Coffee Shop Guide: Prospect Coffee Roasters

If you don't know this about me already, I am totally obsessed with visiting new coffee shops. I just love how every coffee house has it's own theme to it while still having a similar mission in mind: make a great cup of coffee. I've been to my fair share over the last couple of years and I've been to some really amazing shops and some not so amazing ones. Prospect Coffee Roasters is definitely in the top 5 of my list!

Since their opening back in April, I have been 3 times and have loved it a little more each time I've been. The staff is so friendly, the shop is so aesthetically pleasing, and you can tell that they really care about making quality drinks for their customers. The decorations in this coffeehouse are minimal, but clean using just a few pops of neutral tones like green and tan to balance out the white. I'm all about little details and presentation, and I always find myself slightly disappointed when I order coffee somewhere and they automatically pour it into a plastic cup or throw the pastry in a brown bag. Here at Prospect though, your coffee comes in a clean mug if you ordered a hot beverage or a signature glass if you ordered a cold beverage and each beverage is accompanied by a small gold spoon, that's not plastic! (I just really hate plastic ha).  They also give you your pastry on a clean wood board also accompanied by a gold utensil. Some people probably overlook these details, but I've always been so keen about noticing these little things that I just fell in love with it all. While it's not the biggest coffee house I've been to, they did provide quite a bit of seating both inside and outside for those who plan on hanging out for awhile to get some work done. It does get crowded pretty fast, especially on the weekends so I recommend going in the afternoon-ish when the crowd has died down a bit.

The first time I went, I got myself and iced latte with their house oat milk (I was a little hesitant about oat milk at first, but let me tell you... try it!) and a slice of their life changing carrot cake. No, I'm not exaggerating when I say it was life changing! Sadly the other two times I came back they did not have any available, but their other pastries proved to be just as satisfying. While I am a huge coffee lover, I pretty much only stick to ordering latte, matcha latte, and maybe a cold brew if it's hot out. You'd think at this point I would've experimented with other forms of coffee, but why mess with a good thing ya know? So if you were thinking of asking how their americano or cappuccino was, I'm afraid I could not tell you.

THE infamous, life changing carrot cake!

Whether you live in the Ventura area or are thinking of planning a trip out there soon, I definitely recommend adding Prospect Coffee Roasters to your list of places to stop at! Bring a good book or your laptop and head on over, it's located at 92 S. Laurel Street, Ventura, CA. And since it's located in the heart of Ventura, you can stroll the town when you're done!

As you know, I love visiting new coffee shops, so leave me a comment down below of some of your favorite coffee shops! :)
