Coffee Shop Guide: Civil Coffee

Hello all! Wow looking at my last coffee shop guide, I can't believe it's been 5 months since I last wrote one! Way too long in my book. One of my intentions with the new year is to be more active on the blog and to create and share content that I am really passionate about. And as I'm sure some of you are aware of at this point, if you follow me on Instagram, one of my passions is discovering new coffee shops! Last year was my first time owning a blog so a lot of the reasons behind why I was not sharing as much as I would have liked was due to just trying to figure out the whole backside of running a blog and trying to find a design that I absolutely loved and was proud of. But anyways back to the point of this blog post, enjoy my little guide to Civil Coffee!

Located in Highland Park off of N Figueroa St. and between some beautiful and historic buildings, you can find Civil Coffee. I had only been there one other time before and I honestly don't know why I don't come more often! The whole shop has a very cozy and inviting atmosphere and their menu offers quite the variety for those looking to eat and hang for a while. And can we just talk about the tile in the shop for a sec... I think every coffee shop should take notes from Civil Coffee for how to make a coffee shop a dream. Another thing that I was particularly fond of was the fact that their alternative milks were beyond just your standard almond milk - they offered a cashew-nut milk as well as an oat-hemp milk. Now onto the eats portion of their menu. They truly have everything from sweet pastries to savory sandwiches but my favorite option is the 'build your own toast.' You can choose between toasted sourdough or gluten free bread and top it off with all sorts of things from avocado to smoked salmon to seasonal jam! I, of course, had to go with the sourdough topped with the avocado, sea salt, & lemon and it truly did not disappoint!

So if you ever find yourself in Highland Park, definitely make it a point to stop off at Civil Coffee - I promise you won't be disappointed! And hopefully you all enjoy reading these coffee shop guides as much as I enjoy writing them. I can promise that in this new year there will definitely be more - hopefully I can write one at least once a month. There are so many neat little coffee shops here in California that deserve some sharing. Until next time fellow coffee lovers!

XO,

Sara
